Hey Teach is back!

Published by Jewel under House, knitting

I’m sorry that I haven’t had time to blog but the house comes first right now. We are trying so hard to be able to move in by the first week of December. I would love to be in for Christmas and be able to have my tree put up a few weeks before. We spent the last four days last week getting the tile done and we started on the wood floor. I really can’t believe we are putting down the wood floor, it is really hard work. Yesterday it was really hard to get out of bed, my hands and legs hurt so bad and we only got a little over half the family room done and 3/4 of the kitchen. We did get enough of the kitchen done that my cabinets can go in this week. We still have the hall, entry and the office to do but should be able to get most of it done by the end of this week. I hope that’s not wishful thinking!!!

I did spend most of yesterday knitting even with my hands in pain. I got all of my Hey Teach sweater done and now all I need is to get it put together.  I’m hoping to find time tomorrow to work on it. That might be wishful thinking also!

I finished both sleeves but took the picture before!

I’m going after work today to see if I can find some cute buttons and yarn. My grandson needs some new sweaters, he’s out grown all that I had made him last year.

I hope everyone has a great week!

My dark day!

Published by Jewel under House, knitting

This is one of my dark days today, it was sixteen years ago today that I lost my sweet mother to cancer. I can’t believe that its been that long. I think about her every day and look at my grandchildren and wish she was here to share the joy with me. She was such a sweet grandmother to my children, and the best mother anyone could ever ask for. I really lucked out when it came to parents, I know I got the best! I hate cancer it not only took my mother but it also took my sister-in-law about three years ago. Will I think I need to move onto knitting or this will be a even darker day!

My Socks are done!!!!!!

I really, really love these socks. I guess I should say I really, really love the yarn. Its just a simple sock pattern, but the yarn is great and I love how the color pattern turned out. They are done just in time for the weather to get so cold here. We have had rain but I’m lucky enough not to have it snow on the days that I need to drive into work. I just hate driving in the snow, I think its from all the times I had to drive up the canyon in white outs.  I bought this yarn at one of my favorite yarn shops and the one I worked at for about a year.

The Wool Cabin Yarn Shop!

New yarn to show!

I purchased this yarn to make the Bounce Hat by John Brineger. Its Andy’s Merino by Farmhouse yarns. I love Farmhouse yarns the colors are great. I bought it from Purl Soho a shop in NY, its the only place I could find it. Hopefully I can get them done before Christmas, I’m hoping to give one as a gift.  The red one is mine!

House Update!!!!

The house is coming along, we got most of the painting done. All I need to paint now is the baseboards and that shouldn’t be to bad. I’m going to paint them and then hubby will put them on after he gets the hardwood floor down. We did get most of the tile work done on Friday and Saturday and we will finish on this Thursday. Then he will be able to start on the wood floor which is most of the house. My lights went up yesterday but I haven’t been up to the house to look at them. I hate that it gets so dark so early now.  I will try and remember to take my camera up to the house and get some pictures!

Chicken Needle Punch

Published by Jewel under Needle Punch

Not much to show, but I did get my chicken needle punch done and in the frame. It turned out pretty good for my first time and I love the red wool background that I used. It was pretty fun to do and didn’t really take much time to get done.

So I started a new one!

Its on hold now until I get my Hey Teach! sweater done!!!

Hey Teach! I’m back

Published by Jewel under House, knitting

With all we are working on in the house, its so hard to find time to knit. But I did have some time on Wednesday and Thursday morning while watching my little grandson. I got the back of my Hey Teach! sweater done and one side is now almost done. I’m loving the way its turning out, the yarn is really knitting up nicely. I’m going to have all but the sleeve done by the end of the week.

I house is coming along, I should have all the painting done on Wednesday. Hubby is moving on  to getting the bathrooms and the laundry room tiled. Our wood floor should be delivered this week and then we can get started putting it down. My cabinets should be done and ready to go in soon. I’m really hopping to be in by December 1st. There still is a little work that needs to get done outside, but that’s up to the builder now. I’ll have to try taking some pictures of the inside as soon as I get all the paper off the window’s.

Have a good Monday!!!

New stuff from Karatstix!

Published by Jewel under Uncategorized

Back in July I saw some rulers like these on one of my favorite blogs Turtlegirl76. Christi had turtles put on hers. Yes you can order them with whatever you would like. I decided to have sunflowers and a sheep put on mine. Sunflowers are my favorite flower and I grow them all over my yard. So I ordered mine back in July from Karatstixon etsy. Karen said that she was a little behind on getting her orders done. I said that’s fine I’m not in a hurry. Then a couple of months had gone by and I had forgot about them. When I finally remembered I emailed Karen and found out that her mother’s husband had past away and she was trying to get things taken care of. I told her no hurry but after a week they were in the mail and she had put some extra items in. She didn’t have to do that but I love the little stitch markers.

I think they are so cute, I love how the sunflowers turned out and the one little sheep just adds to the cuteness. I’m sorry my picture turned out so gold I think its the light at night!

Here’s a little better view of the ruler!

One sock done

Published by Jewel under Socks, knitting

I have one sock done and I’m on the foot of the second. I don’t know how I’m managing to get these done when we are in the middle of painting the inside of the house. For the last two days I thought I was going to die. My entire body is in pain, I think its from going up and down the ladder. But the house is looking great, I can’t believe how much painting we’ve done in such a short amount of time. The ceilings are all done and we have all but the kitchen, living room and my bedroom done. I know that sounds like a lot still to do but it really isn’t.  I think we should be able to get the rest done by Friday.  I might have a little more painting to do here and there but most should be done. Then hubby can get started on the tile.

Back to my socks, I have one done and I’m loving it! Its great yarn to work with and the feel is really nice. And the colors are the best I’m just really loving them I think they maybe my favorites so far just because of the color.

I also want to share with you what my daughter had painted for above her fireplace. Last time I had visited back in July she had just moved in and I had said to her that she needed a cute picture to go above the fireplace. She said she thought that she would paint something and I thought hum OK! Will she did and they turned out great!

I think it from all the years that her and I watched HGTV!!!!

My Sister Knits yarn shop!

Published by Jewel under Vacations, knitting

After we had went to the Lambspun it was off to My Sister Knits! It took us awhile to find,we where looking for a shop and found a beautiful old home that had clearly been remolded and it was the home of the owner of My Sister Knits. On the side is a gate with a pathway that leads you into the back yard of the home.

Then from there you go to the patio then another pathway that takes you to the homes old carriage house, and that is the yarn shop. It was such a cute yard that it made the trip to the yarn shop a joyful one. I love gardening and I thought the yard was one of the shops best parts. Not to say the shop wasn’t great because it was. It was just so fun getting there and just enjoying her yard. On the one side was a chicken coop that was so cute. I love chicken too!

Then straight ahead from there was her shop, and what a fun shop it was. As we went in there was lots of fun yarn but I thought where is everyone. Then as we looked around we noticed the stairs that lead us up to more yarn and all the ladies that where visiting and yes knitting away. I didn’t find any yarn that said yes you have to buy me right now but it was such a sweet shop that I think that next time I go to visit my daughter that I will find some time to go a visit and knit!

Fort Collins Yarn Shop!

Published by Jewel under Vacations, knitting, spinning, weaving

While in Fort Collins I did visit two great yarn shops. The first one we went to is Lambspun, its a great shop with lots of fiber for spinning and yarn for weaving and they also sale looms and spinning wheels. It was a good size yarn shop and it also had a nice place to eat. We didn’t eat there but maybe next time I go.

The top picture is what you see from the road and the bottom one is the entrance. I didn’t buy much but I did buy this great 8 oz of natural Alpaca. It’s so soft and I can’t wait to spin it up, I have plans for a scarf for me. I did join a fiber club that they had which gave me 20% off the Alpaca and they will send me a card of fiber each month that is new and on sale.

It was a fun day and I will show you more tomorrow!!!

Socks that don’t match!

Published by Jewel under Socks, knitting

Wow has the cold bug hit me hard! When I got to my daughter’s house last Wednesday the first thing she said to me was “mother I have a sore throat” then it turned into a bad cold. But she made it through our five days together running everywhere. But when I went to leave on Monday, guess what my throat hurt like mad and now I have such a bad cold. I love my daughter and how she loves to share!

I was reading the other day one of the blogs I like to read each day “stachnstitch” she was showing her socks that didn’t come out the same pattern & color. Will I just finished a pair that did the same thing. They are out of Lorna’s Lace Limited Edition from Jimmy Beans Wool. So I thought I would show you what they turned out to look like. There not to bad looking and I love the pattern and the yarn is great. There is just a little difference in the yellow and the pattern is just a little off. The dye lots were the same, funny huh!

Schacht Factory Tour

Published by Jewel under spinning, weaving

While in Colorado it was “Spinning and Weaving Week” so we decided to go to Boulder and visit the Schacht Factory for a tour. They were doing tours on Thursday so we went that morning it was only about an hour away. It was really fun to go through there factory and see how they make the looms and spinning wheels. It made me wish that I had bought a Schacht wheel instead of Ashford. I have two wheels a Traveler and the Joy. Don’t get me wrong they are great wheels and I do like them. But I’m going to buy the Schacht Standard loom as soon as we are in our house. And it was fun to see how they are made and shipped and what care went into making them.

This women is sanding the pieces of the wheels by hand.

The Lady Bug Wheel!

This is the baby wolf loom and how they ship them. On the right is a wheel they are working on.
